Artists from NYC visit the Piracanga Reservation
December 2010 - January 2011
At the end of 2010 Yonic received the visit from 3 artists - Rita Ackermann, T.G. Pelizzi and Daniel Turner - brought by friend and curator Sarina Basta from NY. They came to visit the organization and see what the Piracanga Reservation Project is about. The experience was so inspiring that they spend New Years Eve drawing together in the cabana on Tiririca beach on the yonic recycled paper.This collective experience continued during their trip in Brazil, taking yonic papers with them and using other material found during their journey. The idea of showing the drawings and selling them in order to contribute to the funding of the project came out naturally, as the artists all wanted to help actively and in a three month time the show was up in NY, some drawings sold and a contribution send to Yonic. This donation is the starting point of a new line we are now following, tying up together the possibility of experiencing a unique biodiversity and the artistic creative process. We are very much looking foward to the development of this experience.
